Linux on ARMI’ve seen quite a few people who want to use the Mele A1000 – or its brother the Mele A2000 – media player as a server (Sacrilege!). Since recent ARM servers are running Ubuntu 12.04, and Tom Gall has (conveniently) posted the live-build config necessary to generate Ubuntu 12.04 Server image this week, I thought I’d give it a try on Mele A1000.

Linux on ARMThe MK802 Mini PC is an inexpensive computer that's about the size of a large USB flash drive. It ships with Google Android 4.0 software, but as we've already seen it can also run Ubuntu, Puppy, and other Linux-based operating systems.

Linux on ARMUbuntu firmware has been made available for the SmartQ T20 tablet by its manufacturer, Smart Devices. The Android-toting T20 ships with Android 4.0.4 pre-installed by default, but users can choose to flash Ubuntu 12.04 on to their devices by downloading the newly released firmware.

Linux on ARMCHIP DESIGNER Nvidia has replied to Linux founder Linus Torvalds' stinging criticism over the firm's lack of Linux video driver support by saying that it is one of the biggest contributors to the Linux kernel for ARM architectures.

Linux on ARMThe Fedora ARM team is pleased to announce that the Fedora 17 GA release
for ARM is now available for download from:

Linux on ARMLast week I shared results from the Phoronix 12-core ARM Linux mini cluster that was constructed out of six PandaBoard ES development boards. Over the weekend, a 96-core ARM cluster succeeded this build. While packing nearly 100 cores and running Ubuntu Linux, the power consumption was just a bit more than 200 Watts. This array of nearly 100 processor cores was even powered up by a solar panel.

Fedora Discussion: "ARM Is A Dead End"

2012-Jun-15 | Tags: fedora

Linux on ARMFrom time-to-time unique/crazy/odd discussions get born on the Fedora development mailing list -- such as talking nasty about Ubuntu's Unity, trying to make Fedora a rolling-release distribution, etc. The latest discussion that's been very active has been about whether ARM hardware is a dead-end.

Linux on ARMNVIDIA has updated L4T, their "Linux For Tegra" platform, for those using NVIDIA's ARM hardware.

Linux on ARMLast week I shared my plans to build a low-cost, 12-core, 30-watt ARMv7 cluster running Ubuntu Linux. The ARM cluster that is built around the PandaBoard ES development boards is now online and producing results... Quite surprising results actually for a low-power Cortex-A9 compute cluster. Results include performance-per-Watt comparisons to Intel Atom and Ivy Bridge processors along with AMD's Fusion APU.

Linux on ARMJust in case you had any doubt that the MK802 $74 PC-on-a-stick was a versatile computer, the folks at Miniand Tech have compiled several versions of Ubuntu 12.04 Linux that can run on the little computer.

Linux on ARMThe MK802 is a tiny computer that looks like a large USB flash drive. It has a 1.5 GHz Allwinner A10 processor, 512MB of RAM, and 4GB of storage, as well as USB and HDMI ports.

MK802 Ubuntu Images

Linux on ARMHere at Miniand we have been hard at work getting Linux images working on the MK802, and we have just successfully built Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu and Lubuntu images. The current version of the images support Wifi and OpenGL, and the lightweight versions Lubuntu and Xubuntu run quite well.

Linux on ARMI've been busy with lots of different Bodhi things of the late. The latest of my many projects has been getting the Bodhi desktop functional on the RaspBerry Pi:
